The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
