Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Greed for more and more distracted you [from God] 1 until you reach your graves. 2 Nay, you will soon come to know; 3 Nay! Nay! you shall soon know. 4 And yet if you knew with positive knowledge 5 you would see the fire of Hell. 6 Again, you shall surely see it with the eye of certainty 7 Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)! 8

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
