The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and so am I: 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
