The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
