Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim 1 A Revelation from (Allah), Most Gracious, Most Merciful;- 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 They say: “Our hearts are securely wrapped up against what you call us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between you and us there is a veil. So act; we too are acting.” 5 Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Physically I am a human like you – I receive the divine revelation that your God is only One God, therefore be upright towards Him and seek forgiveness from Him”; and woe is to the polytheists. – 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
