Say thou: I am but warner, and there is no god but Allah, the One, the Subduer. 65 "The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- Exalted in Might, able to enforce His Will, forgiving again and again." 66 Say, "This is momentous news, 67 from which you turn away. 68 "I had no knowledge of the chiefs (angels) on high when they were disputing and discussing (about the creation of Adam). 69 "Only this has been inspired to me, that I am a plain warner." 70 [For,] lo, thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create a human being out of clay; 71 and when I give it proper shape and blow My spirit into it, bow down in prostration to him," 72 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 73 Except Iblis (Satan) he was proud and was one of the disbelievers. 74 Said He: "O Iblis! What has kept thee from prostrating thyself before that [being] which I have created with My hands? Art thou too proud [to bow down before another created being,] or art thou of those who think [only] of themselves as high?" 75 Answered [Iblis]: "I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, whereas him Thou hast created out of clay." 76 The Lord said, "Get out of here. You deserve to be stoned! 77 "And My curse shall be on thee till the Day of Judgment." 78 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 79 (Allah) said: "Verily! You are of those allowed respite 80 till the Appointed Day." 81 [Iblees] said, "By your might, I will surely mislead them all 82 excepting those Thy servants among them that are sincere.' 83 He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak, 84 I shall certainly fill Gehenna with you and every one of them that follows you' 85 Say: I do not ask you for any reward for it; nor am I of those who affect: 86 "This is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds. 87 and you shall surely know its tiding after a while.' 88
