۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
