Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 (That) We sent it down one night of blessing -- so that We could warn -- 3 on that night every wise decree is specified 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 A mercy from your Lord; indeed He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 6 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them: if you would only have sure faith. 7 there is no deity save Him: It is He who gives both life and death -- He is your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers, 8 Yet they are in doubt, playing. 9 So you await the day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. 10 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful punishment. 11 Thereupon they will say, “O our Lord! Remove the punishment from us we now accept faith.” 12 How should they have the Reminder, seeing a clear Messenger already came to them, 13 Whereas they had then turned away from him and said, “He is a madman, tutored!”? 14 Yet We will hold the scourge back for a while, (but no sooner than We will do so) you will revert to your old ways. 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, 17 Who said, “Give the bondmen of Allah into my custody; I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger for you.” 18 "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. 19 I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you should attack me with stones. 20 'But if so be that you believe me not, go you apart from me!' 21 And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people. 22 Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed, 23 And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." 24 How many of the gardens and fountains have they left! 25 and cornfields and splendid buildings, 26 and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not over them, nor were they respited. 29

Notes and Instructions
ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
