Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
