Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 Say thou: wait verily I am, with you, among the waiters. 31 Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds? 32 Do they say: “He has himself fabricated the Qur'an?” No; the truth is that they are altogether averse to believing. 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud' 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep. 48 Extol His glory at night, and at the setting of the stars. 49
