The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
