Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
