The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
