In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ya-Sin. 1 I call to witness the Qur'an, custodian of all laws, -- 2 Indeed you, [O Muhammad], are from among the messengers, 3 on a Straight Way, 4 the sending down of the All-mighty, the All-wise, 5 That you may warn a people whose ancestors had never been warned, who are therefore heedless. 6 The Phrase has become obligatory upon most of them, yet they do not believe. 7 Verily! We have put on their necks iron collars reaching to chins, so that their heads are forced up. 8 And We have placed before them a barrier and behind them a barrier, so We have covered them, so that they see not. 9 And it is the same for them, whether you warn them or do not warn them – they will not believe. 10 You warn only him who follows the advice and fears the Most Gracious without seeing; therefore give him glad tidings of forgiveness and an honourable reward. 11 We shall surely bring the dead back to life and We record what they send ahead and what they leave behind. We have recorded everything in a clear book. 12

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
