The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
