Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 On this night, every absolute command coming from Us becomes distinguishable. 4 By a command from Us – indeed it is We Who send. 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you are certain (of your faith). 7 There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. 8 Yet they play about in doubt. 9 Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. 10 covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. 11 (People will then say): “Our Lord, remove this scourge from us; we shall believe.” 12 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil). 15 The day that We shall seize them with a grievous hold, We will indeed castigate them. 16 ۞ And before them We indeed tried the people of Firaun, and an Honourable Noble Messenger came to them. 17 Who said, “Give the bondmen of Allah into my custody; I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger for you.” 18 And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. 19 “And I take the refuge of my Lord and yours, against your stoning me.” 20 And if ye will not believe in me, then let me alone. 21 Then he cried out to his Lord, "These are sinful people." 22 So depart thou with My bondmen by night; verily ye shall be pursued. 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind, 25 and fields of grain, and noble dwellings, 26 And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! 27 Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt). 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not over them, nor were they respited. 29
