The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time]. 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 [but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it]. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why dost thou not bring the angels unto us, if thou speakest truly?' 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 We place in the hearts of sinners (disbelief). 12 they do not believe in it. This has been the wont of people of this kind from ancient times. 13 If We were even to open for them a way to the heavens, and they could continually climb up to it in broad daylight, 14 Even then they would say, “Our sights have been hypnotised – in fact, a magic spell has been cast upon us.” 15
