Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
