The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He hath created man. 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
