The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
