The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 purify your garments; 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 it will be a hard day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
