Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
