The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 of an orphaned relative 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
