And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
