The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 When Shuaib said to all of them, “Do you not fear?” 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 191
