The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
