He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
