Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
