Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
