Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
