Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
