And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "And He will give me death, then resurrect me." 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 "So now we do not have any intercessors." 100 and no sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
