Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Tell them, (O Prophet): “I am only a human being like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God; so direct yourselves straight to Him, and seek His forgiveness. Woe to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity, 6 Those who practise not regular Charity, and who even deny the Hereafter. 7 For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. 8
