The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 then came down close 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
