The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
