The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 So that is a tough day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
