Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
