[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ “Measure in full, and do not be of those who reduce.” 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
