Not without purpose did We create heaven and earth and all between! that were the thought of Unbelievers! but woe to the Unbelievers because of the Fire (of Hell)! 27 Shall We then treat alike those that believe and act righteously and those that create mischief on earth? Or treat alike the God-fearing and the wicked? 28 This is a blessed Book which We sent down to you [Muhammad], for people to ponder over its messages, and for those with understanding to take heed. 29 We bestowed upon David (an illustrious son), Solomon. How excellent a servant (of Ours he was)! Indeed he constantly turned to Us in devotion. 30 Recall what time there were presented unto him, at eventide, coursers swift-footed. 31 he said, "I have put the love of good things above the remembrance of my Lord," until [the sun] disappeared behind its veil and the horses disappeared from sight, 32 Bring them back to me; so he began to slash (their) legs and necks. 33 We tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned towards Us]. 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 So We subjected to him the wind, that ran at his commandment, softly, wherever he might light on, 36 And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver 37 And others bound in fetters. 38 “This is Our bestowal. So give or withhold as you wish without account.” 39 And verily for him is an approach with Us, and a happy end. 40
