The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
