۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 [But] We said: O fire! Be thou cool, and [a source of] inner peace for Abraham!" 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
