The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
