Did the news of Ibrahim’s honourable guests reach you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him)? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
