Nay, by the Moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
