And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 And there We made gardens of palms and vines, and in it We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Holy is He who created all things in pairs; of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and other things which they do not know. 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a Sign for them is that We bore their race (through the Flood) in the loaded Ark; 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 If it were Our will, We could drown them: then there would be no helper [to hear their cry], nor could they be saved. 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 Then they will be unable to make a will, nor shall they return to their kinsmen. 50
