The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
