This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then there cometh unto them that which they had been promised. 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 Who listens to you for spreading rumours; but most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
