Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 "I was certain that I will confront my account." 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand - he will say, "Alas, if only my account were not given to me!" 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 "Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest." 33 "And did not urge to feed the needy." 34 "So he does not have any friend here this day." 35 Nor food other than suppuration 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
