Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
