Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 and the burden-bearers 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
